One of the women I respect and admire is a woman I have never had the privilege of meeting, Nancy Leigh DeMoss. I have read her books and listened to her radio teaching, and I appreciate her for her adherance to the Word of God. I thank her for the beautiful photo above from her website, (www.reviveourhearts.com) just to cheer ladies; may it cheer you, too. I appreciate Miss DeMoss' Scriptural teaching. I appreciate her boldness in the face of our world's criticism against godly womanliness. This is what our lives are about, dear Lady, the honor of our Savior!
Be bold to be godly, Christ-like, pure, and holy, according to the Scriptures. Do I write these words as one who is perfectly all I approve of? Sadly, no. Do I continue to strive to be more of what God's Word directs us to be even after I fall? Yes, especially then.
Learn to be firm in what you believe. What to believe? Does your church have a statement of faith? I know an organization that has an excellent one: Child Evangelism Fellowship http://www.cefonline.com/
This statement does not have any denominational distinctives, but pure, basic Scriptural beliefs. A Statement of Faith is good to summarize what a larger body of Scripture states, thus making it easier to understand and restate. There are catechisms, books called a "body of divinity" and systems of doctrine. If you have a good Bible believing pastor, ask him for one of these, and study it.
Be sure that all you embrace to believe is based on Scripture and Scripture alone. The Word of God, the Bible, is the only document since creation that fully and perfectly states the voice of God, our true condition before Him and how we can be reconciled to Him through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. God's Word is so much more, and I will not pretend to be able to write, say, or do more than what my one little life and set of experiences can substantiate. Love the Bible; read the Bible, study the Bible; seek out and listen to those who have lived and studied the Bible; and find trustworthy writers and read what they say about the Bible.
Now here, on this blog, I will share my heart and what God teaches me and has taught me through the years. For ladies only? Well, I suppose sons, grandsons, nephews, and grand nephews may be curious about what Mother-Grammy-AuntieKay writes; but I write primarily for women who want to gain wisdom and joy for their journey, and want to avoid some of the pain, sorrows and pitfalls by learning from mine, and learning from what I have learned.
So come on, gather 'round my heart, and let us begin.
I enjoy sharing my wisdom gathered over the years with younger women. It is human to share boquets of flowers with people we love, people we want to cheer, and just because it lets us share the joy the flowers bring. This is the way I feel about the joys God has blessed me with over the years. May you enjoy a few boquets of God's blessings I have held.
